The seventh season of Game of Thrones starts July 16. As preparation, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching the first episode of season six, “The Red Woman.” Spoilers for the entire series, but for this episode in particular.
- Hearing Ghost howling makes me so sad. You can hear the heartbreak in his voice.
- “Feed her to the hounds.”- Way to respect the dead, Ramsay.
- So now Brienne is in service to Sansa. Hopefully she doesn’t end up like Renly and Cat.
- I feel bad that Myrcella is dead, but I do not feel bad for Cersei. After all the misery she has caused, she deserves to suffer.
- Considering how pissed he was at The Mountain for killing Elia, I don’t Oberyn would react well to Ellaria killing his brother.
- There’s no honor in killing a man while his back is turned.
- “She thinks you want to eat her baby.” – After everything that went down with the Dornish coup this episode, I was grateful for this bit. It gave me something to laugh at.
- It’s a good thing Daenerys is a quick thinker and managed to leave that ring behind.
- Khal widows sure do get a raw deal. I know the dosh khaleen are well respected members of Dothraki society, but I would hate to be told that’s my only option in life.
- I love how the final scene draws in the male gaze, then hits the audience with a shot of Melisandre’s true form. I find any scene with Melisandre uncomfortable, so I’m fine with letting the male viewers feel the same way.
