The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18.  As a lead-up, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. Right now I’m on Jessica Jones. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode six, “AKA You’re a Winner!” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.

1. Thank goodness Kilgrave didn’t actually make that guy put out his match in his eye.
2. “Is she yours?” – Jessica is so obviously jealous at the thought of another woman in Luke’s life.
3. Poor Hope. It’s bad enough Kilgrave raped her, but then he had to get her pregnant too. I probably would have done anything to end the pregnancy too.
4. I love that Luke, who has impenetrable skin, wears a bicycle helmet because “it’s the law.” Once we get his backstory on Luke Cage, this makes even more sense.
5. I do like that Pam finally decided she wasn’t going to continue being Hogarth’s woman on the side while she waited for the lawyer to get divorced.
6. At least Kilgrave paid a good price for the house. I guess he had to, since his powers only work for a short amount of time.
7. “Sweet Christmas.” – This has got to be one of the best comic book catchphrases ever. I’m glad they threw that in there for the fans.
8. “The dogs’ alright?”  – I love that Jessica, in the middle of a fight, is worried about the dogs. And I love that Luke replies “I don’t hurt dogs.”
9. I’m glad Jessica stopped Luke from killing the bus driver and came clean about her role in Reva’s death. Although it’s so frustrating that Luke and Jessica just made up from their last fight in this episode and now he’s mad at her again.
10. Its so creepy that Hogarth took the fetus Hope aborted.
