The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18. As a lead-up, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. Right now I’m on Jessica Jones. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode three, “AKA It’s Called Whiskey.” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.
- I can only imagine how Jessica and Luke are feeling, now that they’ve both found someone who is as strong as them. It must be a welcome relief after spending so long holding back.
- I think it’s great that Trish is training in Krav Maga so that she can protect herself. I would love to see her become Hellcat at some point down the road, although I doubt that will happen.
- I’m surprised Wendy and Hogarth couldn’t make it work. They’re both major bitches.
- Trish is much braver than I am. Knowing what Kilgrave did to Jessica and Hope, I’d be too afraid to insult him.
- “That is so smart. And evil, of course.” – That pretty much sums up Hogarth’s personality this season. Although Iron Fist redeemed her character a bit.
- That poor fan. He probably only wanted an autograph or a picture and instead he ends up getting assaulted.
- Poor Malcolm. Drugs can really ruin a person’s life.
- I love that we only learn Jessica killed Luke’s wife after Jessica and Luke have already had sex. It shows how problematic Jessica’s life is, which is part of what makes this show so great.
- Jessica shows a lot of restraint fighting off that family that Kilgrave was staying with. She probably could have easily killed them all, but it took more work to simply incapacitate them.
- I think part of what makes Kilgrave so terrifying (aside from his mind control ability) is his obsession with Jessica. That room plastered solid with pictures of her would be creepy even if Kilgrave had no superpowers.
