Jessica Jones Re-Watch: AKA Crush Syndome

The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18.  As preparation, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. Right now I’m on Jessica Jones. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode two, “AKA Crush Syndrome.” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.

Hope Shlottman in AKA Crush Syndrome

  1. I understand why Luke is mad at Jessica for photographing him. At the same time, I think he’s probably shooting the messenger for telling him Gina is married.
  2. Poor Hope. Its bad enough she was kidnapped and raped, but now her parents are dead and she’s being charged with their murders. No wonder she’s so angry.
  3. “I’ll owe you a favor.” – Those are probably the sexiest words Hogarth has ever heard.
  4. Robyn is such a bitch to her brother. Its especially frustrating now that I know what happens to him and how she reacts.
  5. I love how the show’s costume designer put Jessica in the most girly scrubs she could possibly find.
  6. Jack Denton sure got a raw deal. Here he was, working as an ambulance driver in order to try to help people, and his reward is that Kilgrave takes both of his kidneys.
  7. I’d hate to be the fool who decides to go up against Jessica and Luke in a fight. I’m looking forward to seeing them fight together again in The Defenders.
  8. The first time I watched this series, I assumed Trish had been abused by an old boyfriend as well. I think the truth is so much sadder.
  9. The way Kilgrave makes this family take him in is so frightening. Its particularly awful the way he treats the children.
  10. Even though I knew that Luke had impenetrable skin, I still flinched when I saw Luke put that saw to his skin. It’s a bit that always makes me wince, if I’m being honest.
