The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18. As preparation, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. Right now I’m on Jessica Jones. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode two, “AKA Crush Syndrome.” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.
- I understand why Luke is mad at Jessica for photographing him. At the same time, I think he’s probably shooting the messenger for telling him Gina is married.
- Poor Hope. Its bad enough she was kidnapped and raped, but now her parents are dead and she’s being charged with their murders. No wonder she’s so angry.
- “I’ll owe you a favor.” – Those are probably the sexiest words Hogarth has ever heard.
- Robyn is such a bitch to her brother. Its especially frustrating now that I know what happens to him and how she reacts.
- I love how the show’s costume designer put Jessica in the most girly scrubs she could possibly find.
- Jack Denton sure got a raw deal. Here he was, working as an ambulance driver in order to try to help people, and his reward is that Kilgrave takes both of his kidneys.
- I’d hate to be the fool who decides to go up against Jessica and Luke in a fight. I’m looking forward to seeing them fight together again in The Defenders.
- The first time I watched this series, I assumed Trish had been abused by an old boyfriend as well. I think the truth is so much sadder.
- The way Kilgrave makes this family take him in is so frightening. Its particularly awful the way he treats the children.
- Even though I knew that Luke had impenetrable skin, I still flinched when I saw Luke put that saw to his skin. It’s a bit that always makes me wince, if I’m being honest.
