Daredevil Re-Watch: Condemned

The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18.  As preparation, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. First up is season one of Daredevil. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode six, “Condemned.” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.

Ben Urich in Condemned

  1. I love the board Ben is using to work on his story. It’s very old school, but very cool.
  2. Government employees in the MCU are so shady.
  3. I can’t even imagine how hot a flare would be on bare skin. Just watching it is painful.
  4. Vladimir is a stubborn guy. He’s been shot, yet he’s still got some fight in him.
  5. I always roll my eyes at the remarkably high success rate of CPR on TV. In real life, the success rate of bystander resuscitation (the type of CPR Matt performs on Vladimir) is about 13 percent.
  6. The radio exchange between Matt and Fisk is incredibly well acted. It gives me chills.
  7. Fisk is so despicable, bombing his own city and framing someone else for it.
  8. I bet Blake would never have gone to work for Fisk if he’d known Fisk was going to have a sniper shoot him. When Fisk is the king everyone else is a pawn.
  9. Poor Sullivan. He was one of the few cops on this show who wasn’t on Fisk’s payroll, so of course he had to die.
  10. The end of this episode always makes me a little sad. And also angry. I know Vladimir wasn’t a good guy, but I hate to see Fisk and his corrupt cops get away with murder.
