The Netflix series The Defenders premieres August 18. In preparation, I’m re-watching all the Netflix shows set in the MCU. First up is season one of Daredevil. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching episode one, “Into the Ring.” Spoilers for the entire MCU, but for this episode in particular.
- I can’t imagine being 10 and suddenly being able to not see. I would have been terrified.
- The opening credits of this show are so gorgeous. A little disturbing, because the red paint looks like blood dripping, but gorgeous. I love seeing the NYC landmarks.
- Foggy and Matt have such a great friendship. They’re my BrOTP of the MCU TV shows.
- Poor Karen. She’s in New York for all of five minutes and ends up getting accused of murder.
- Being able to tell when someone is lying is such a cool superpower. It may not be as fancy as super strength or being able to fly, but it sure does come in handy when you’re a lawyer who only wants to represent the innocent.
- People who threaten the innocent in order to make a statement to their loved ones are nothing more than thugs.
- Matt and Karen are so cute together. I hope that the show follows the comics and puts them together by the end of the series.
- Madame Gao! I love how they introduced her on this before bringing her over to Iron Fist and giving her a larger role.
- This fight sequence is the rain is beautiful. Can a fight sequence be called beautiful?
- Seeing all those poor people forced to work for Madame Gao’s drug cartel always makes me sad. No one should be so desperate for money that they allow themselves to be blinded so that they can work.
