The new season of Game of Thrones starts July 16. In preparation, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 15 thoughts I had while watching the second episode of season three, “Dark Wings, Dark Words.” Spoilers for the entire series, but for this episode in particular.
- This dream scene with the Stark boys together and Ned’s voice is giving me all the feels. Just when I was starting to accept that they were never going to see each other again.
- The first two seasons Daenerys got put through the ringer. Now it’s the Starks, turn apparently.
- Listen to Shae, Sansa. She knows Littlefinger is no good for you.
- Also, poor girl has absolutely no gaydar. If she did, she wouldn’t be so interested in Loras.
- I love Olenna’s sharp tongue and wit. I’d watch an entire series centering on a young Olenna.
- “I think you lost this war the day you married her.” – The only smart thing Lord Karstark ever said.
- Cat’s story about sitting with Jon always makes me tear up a little. Especially because she’ll never know that he really wasn’t Ned’s son.
- I wonder how Mance managed to keep the Thenns from eating the rest of his army.
- Love how the Lord Commander promises to kill Rast if Sam doesn’t make it back to the Wall alive. It’s the perfect way to keep Rast from picking on Sam.
- Enter Jojen and Meera. I was never a big fan of Bran’s storyline, but I did like these two.
- It’s cute that Shae is jealous of the fact that Tyrion slept with Ros. Which is why it broke my heart all the more when Shae betrayed him.
- Add being homophobic to the list of Joffrey’s many wonderful qualities.
- Margaery shows her cleverness once again by pretending to take have an interest in Joffrey’s crossbow.
- What Theon did to the people of Winterfell was awful, but watching him be tortured is horrifying.
- This show has so many twists. I was worried Jaime was going to kill Brienne or Brienne was going to kill Jaime, but instead men from House Bolton come along and take them both prisoner.
