The seventh season of Game of Thrones starts July 16. As a lead-up, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching the sixth episode of season two, “The Old Gods and the New.” Spoilers for the entire series, but for this episode in particular.
- This opening bit with Ser Rodrik’s execution is awful. At least Ned got a clean beheading.
- I remember the first time I saw this episode. I was so nervous Littlefinger was going to reveal Arya’s true identity.
- I always found it interesting how Ygritte looked like one of Jon’s sisters and reminded him of the other. It’s possibly what saved her life (or at least delayed her death).
- They may have started a riot that led to the High Septon being torn apart, but I still want to give a medal to whoever hit Joffrey in the face with cow crap.
- You should listen to your mother Robb. Getting involved with Talisa will be your downfall.
- Even when he knows Ygritte is manipulating him, Jon is still doing what she wants.
- Roose Bolton is such a liar. I just want to shake Robb for trusting him.
- Sansa should takes Shae’s advice not to trust anybody. King’s Landing is basically a viper pit.
- Osha really came through for the Starks in this episode. A far cry from the woman who tried to kill Bran when she was first introduced.
- And once again Daenerys suffers a huge loss.
