Game of Thrones Re-Watch: What Is Dead May Never Die

The next season of Game of Thrones starts July 16.  As preparation, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching the third episode of season two, “What Is Dead May Never Die.” Spoilers for the entire series, but for this episode in particular.

Renly Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell in What Is Dead May Never Die

  1. Bran’s ability is so cool. Although I wouldn’t want to have to give up the use of my legs in exchange for it.
  2. “The dragons are gone, the Giants are dead, and the Children of the Forest forgotten” – Maester Luwin doesn’t know about Daenerys’s dragons, but we do, and this is a sign that the Giants and Children of the Forest will eventually pop up as well.
  3. Margaery! She really was the best character this show ever had.
  4. They may not have grown up together, but Yara and Theon sure do fight just like siblings.
  5. Myrcella and Tommen really were so pure.
  6. Tyrion is so slick here, testing the loyalties of the small council.
  7. Renly may be a king, but Loras seems to be the one who calls the shots in their relationship.
  8. Margaery is a woman who knows what she wants and will do whatever it takes to get it.
  9. Every time there’s a scene with Grand Maester Pycelle in his quarters, I’m extremely grateful that his shirt is as long as it is. Nobody wants to see what’s under that.
  10. The blood squirting out of Lommy’s throat after Lorch puts his blade through it always reminds me of a scene from a horror movie.
