Game of Thrones Re-Watch: The North Remembers

The new season of Game of Thrones starts July 16.  In preparation, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 10 thoughts I had while watching the first episode of season two, “The North Remembers.” Spoilers for the entire series, but for this episode in particular.

Melisandre in The North Remembers

  1. I don’t get all the hate Sansa gets. She has a good heart and is just trying to survive.
  2. “You love your children. It’s your one redeeming quality.”  – And now she’s out of children to love. Should make season seven interesting.
  3. “He didn’t know anything about anything.” – I love Daenerys’s summation of Viserys.
  4. Damn HBO. You’ve already taken away the woman’s husband and baby, now you’ve got to take her horse too?
  5. Craster is so creepy. He makes the Targaryens’ marriage customs look healthy.
  6. Not sure why we were all so surprised when we learned how old Melisandre was, seeing as how she survived drinking Cressen’s poison.
  7. Robb, you should really have taken your mother’s advice. Balon is no Stark ally.
  8. “We will all be together again soon.” – Yeah, that’s never gonna happen. Because GRRM is a sadist.
  9. Watching Cersei slap Joffrey isn’t nearly as satisfying as watching Tyrion do it.
  10. The scene with the baby in the whorehouse makes me tear up every time I watch it. I can’t imagine having your infant ripped from your arms and murdered right before your eyes.
