Season seven of Game of Thrones starts July 16. In preparation, I’m re-watching the first six seasons of the show. Below are 20 thoughts I had while watching the third episode of season one, “Lord Snow.” Spoilers for the complete series, but for this episode in particular.
- Boy, that guy who greets Ned in King’s Landing sure is a douche, suggesting the new Hand should change his clothes.
- This scene between Ned and Jaime is truly wonderful, with each convinced their point-of-view is the only right one. Honestly, I can see both sides.
- Varys! And Renly! I was pretty upset when Renly died, even if he had no right to the throne.
- Too bad Joffrey didn’t die of infection. It would’ve saved Ned’s life.
- “Everyone who isn’t us is an enemy” – I think everyone on the show is living by these words as of the end of season six.
- I love watching Ned trying to comfort his daughters. Even if he is a bit hopeless at it (at least with Sansa).
- Forget Varys or Tyrion; Old Nan was probably the wisest person on this show.
- And here’s Littlefinger telling his first on-screen lie (that the dagger is Tyrion’s). He’s such a sleazebag. I’ll be so happy when he gets what’s coming to him.
- Tyrion really does have a great sense of humor, even if it is a bit morbid.
- Seeing Ned and Cat kiss each other goodbye is much sadder knowing it will be their last goodbye.
- Robert really was a peach. No wonder Lancel was willing to go along with Cersei’s plot to have him killed.
- Daenerys begins to act like a Khaleesi.
- Viserys was such an abusive asshole. I do not miss him one bit.
- I get so cold whenever I have to watch a scene at the Wall.
- And we get our first mention of Dorne via a joke from Tyrion. It still pains me to think about how that storyline got changed from the books.
- Thank goodness for Ser Jorah. I don’t think I could stand the thought of Daenerys chowing down on a dog. Especially after what happened to Lady in the last episode.
- Did Emilia realize when she took this role that she would have to take her clothes off every single episode?
- Tyrion is such a class act, pissing off the Wall.
- Syrio Forel was such a great character.
- Although it did annoy me that he called Arya “Boy.”
